Starting a business in The Bahamas? Start here.

Finding the right information and knowing what to do first can be hard. Islanda is being built to help you organize your business idea and take a clearer first step.

The problem

Starting a business shouldn't feel like guesswork.

The information exists, but it is spread across government websites, PDFs, offices and advice from friends. It is hard to know which of it applies to you, whether it is still current, and what to do first.

  • Selling food from home

    • Do I need a licence?
    • Is there an inspection?
    • Which office do I go to?
  • Opening a salon

    • Do I need to register first?
    • What about staff?
    • What paperwork comes next?
  • Turning a side hustle into a business

    • When should I register?
    • Do I need to charge tax?
    • Is my information current?

What you can do in Islanda today

Islanda gives your business idea a home: one private place for what your business is, what you want, and the files that go with it.

  • A profile for your business

Give your business a name, the country it operates in, and what it does.

  • Five guided questions

Describe your business, your stage, your team, the money you may need and your goals. Your answers are saved as you go.

  • Your business on one page

See everything you have told Islanda in one place, and change it any time.

  • Private document storage

Keep business files such as licences, invoices and statements together in private storage. Islanda stores them; it does not read them.

  • Goals

Write down what you want to achieve and track progress against figures you record.

  • Money and sales figures

Record figures such as sales and expenses for a month or quarter, and compare one period with another.

What Islanda does not do: it does not register your business, apply for licences or send anything to the government for you, and it does not tell you which requirements apply to your business.
